Can you answer Kathie's question? "Does anyone know where I could go to find out how to develop better exercises for training. I work in a Healthcare Association, as an Instructional Designer. I was not taught in graduate school how to develop exercises like case studies or scenarios. I find these things hard to do. In the field you'll always be looking for better ways develop engaging and effective learning materials. What I am looking for is, specific books or websites that provide ideas. Thanks!" |

Kathie,
I know it's been a while since you placed this posting, but I just came across it now and wanted to share one of the resources I use... A great book is Active Learning: 101 Strategies to Teach Any Subject by Mel Silberman. It was actually a textbook in one of my Graduate classes at Roosevelt University and I use it all the time for ideas on the job. There's also another one called Games Trainers Play, but I am not sure the author on that one (I don't have it with me right now) - sorry about that. I hope these help! |

Hi Trish: I'd be happy to help you by working one out together, no charge. Hard for me to put what I do in words, but can maybe teach you by creating an exercise together. I guess my style is "interactive, interactive, interactive" then make it more interactive.
