I am looking for some information from anyone who has worked for a company that has gotten rid of the Annual Performance Review process (filling out the forms, deciding the merit change, sitting down with the employee, etc). What worked, what didn't, what did you replace it with (if anything), would you do it again? Any information you can share with me or direct me to anyone you know who has experience with this would be appreciated.

I cannot say if they actually did it, but a couple of years ago the HR manager at Thresholds (www.thresholds.org) told me that the CEO wanted to get rid of performance appraisals following the book "Abolishing Performance Appraisals" by Tom Coens and Mary Jenkins.
